Opus Clip alternative: clipping or editing one video?
Opus Clip is a clipping tool: you give it a long video and it finds the moments worth posting as short clips. Rushly AI does a different job: you give it one raw take of yourself talking to the camera and it edits that take from start to finish into a 9:16 MP4. If your starting point is a podcast, a webinar or a long recording, look at Opus Clip. If it is a short take you filmed for a Reel, a TikTok or a Short, look at Rushly AI. Rushly AI is a competitor of Opus Clip.

Two jobs that get the same name
| Clipping | Editing one raw take | |
|---|---|---|
| You bring | A long video (a recording, a webinar, a stream) | One short video of you talking to the camera |
| You get | Several short clips picked from it | One finished edit of that video |
| Example | Opus Clip (its core product) | Rushly AI; Opus Clip's AI Producer; Captions' AI Edit |
Opus Clip does both, with a different tool for each. Rushly AI does the second job.
Opus Clip in brief
| What we read | |
|---|---|
| What it is | A clipping tool: it finds highlights in a long video and adds captions, reframing, transitions and a call to action, and can publish in one click. Also ClipAnything (clips by prompt), ReframeAnything (reframing that tracks an object), an AI or manual editor, an API, brand templates and a team space (opus.pro). |
| Plans | Free $0; Starter $15 a month (free trial offered); Pro $29 a month; Business on quote (pricing page). |
| Free | No credit card; one clip posted a day; animated captions with a watermark; up to 1080p; files kept 3 days; no speech cleanup. |
| Credits | One credit per minute of the original video. Free Forever: 60 minutes a month; Starter: 150; Pro: 300 a month or 3,600 a year (help center). |
| Credit validity | The help center says monthly credits expire after 60 days and yearly credits after 12 months. The pricing page's code talks about carry-over of 1 or 2 months. The two do not agree, so we quote neither as a rule. |
| Cleanup | Speech cleanup (pause and filler removal) from Starter; bad takes removal in Pro (pricing page). |
| Languages | The home page names English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese "and 20 more"; the FAQ names 25. |
| Limits | Credits count the source video, not the clips you keep. No pause: you cancel and resubscribe. The AI Producer is limited to one person and 5 minutes, and several of its features are in beta. |

When Opus Clip is the right choice
- You start from a long recording and want clips. That is its core product, and ClipAnything finds clips from a prompt.
- You import from many sources such as Zoom, YouTube or Google Drive, and publish on a schedule.
- You need 16:9 or 1:1 as well as vertical, or AI B-roll, dubbing, translation or an API.
- You work in a team. Pro lists 2 seats per pack.
Rushly AI has Smart Clips for videos of 8 minutes and more, which pick the strongest moments. It is a feature, not the product.
When Rushly AI is the right choice
- The video is a short take of you talking to the camera, and you want it edited, not mined for clips.
- You want the edit decided for you in one pass, then you review a 9:16 MP4 you can post where you want.
- You want to see the cost before you start. Rushly AI also uses credits, in proportion to the length of your footage. The cost is shown before you launch the edit, and a failed edit costs nothing.
Rushly AI's limits: browser only for now (a mobile version is planned), no B-roll, music or sound effects, 1080×1920 only, and it is built for one person on camera, not as an editor with a timeline. To weigh a tool against a person, read what a video editor costs and hiring an editor or using a tool.
Cancel or switch
- Opus Clip: profile photo, Subscription, Manage plan, then Cancel subscription at the bottom. It takes effect from the next billing cycle, and the help center says projects stop being accessible after 3 days. No pause.
- Credits and refunds: remaining credits expire on their original date. The terms say fees already paid are not refunded.
- Rushly AI: you cancel in one click from your account.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Opus Clip cost?
Its pricing page, read on November 3, 2026, lists Free at $0, Starter at $15 a month, Pro at $29 a month, and Business on quote. Starter has no yearly billing according to the page's code. Pro has a yearly price in that code, but we read it in the script and not on screen, so we do not quote it. Prices may vary by country.
How are Opus Clip credits counted?
By the minute of the original video you import, according to Opus Clip's help center: one credit per minute, so a 30-minute video costs 30 credits, and a 4.5-minute video costs 4. Videos under a minute round up to one credit. Posting to X costs 3 credits per clip and per account. It means a long source video uses many credits even if you keep a few clips.
Does Opus Clip have a free plan?
Yes. The pricing page offers Free at $0 with no credit card and one free clip posted a day, with a watermark on the animated captions. The help center says Free Forever includes 60 processing minutes a month. A 7-day Pro trial turns into Free after 7 days, and trial exports carry the OpusClip watermark.
What is the Opus Clip AI Producer?
It is Opus Clip's editor for a raw video with one person on camera, driven by chat. Its documentation lists MP4, MOV or WebM files up to 5 minutes and 1.99 GB, with output up to 1080p at 30 fps. It lists a rough cut that removes filler words and pauses, captions, voice cleanup, B-roll, motion graphics, music and sound effects, with several features in beta.
Is Rushly AI a clipping tool like Opus Clip?
No. Rushly AI edits one raw talking-head take from start to finish into a 9:16 MP4. It does have Smart Clips, which pick the strongest moments of videos of 8 minutes and more, but it is not built around cutting long videos into many clips. For that job, Opus Clip is built for it.
Can I get a refund from Opus Clip?
Opus Clip's terms of service say fees already paid are not refunded, except where the contract provides otherwise, and give no pro-rated refund for the period in progress. We found no dedicated refund policy on its help center and no mention of an EU right of withdrawal in the extracts we read. Check the terms in force when you cancel.
