How to cancel an AI video editor subscription
To cancel an AI video editor, go to the place where you subscribed: the tool's own billing portal if you paid on its website, Apple or Google if you paid through an app store. Most of the tools below keep your access until the end of the period you paid for, and most say the period already started is not refunded, with narrow exceptions that differ from tool to tool. Policies change, so read the one in force on the day you cancel. Rushly AI competes with every tool on this page; its own rules are in the last section.
By Quentin, video editor, founder of Rushly AI. Rushly AI competes with the tools below. Official pages read on November 3, 2026. This page reports what the policies say and is not legal advice.
Seven tools at a glance
| Tool | Where to cancel | Timing | Refund, per the official policy | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Captions | Bought on the website: Captions' Stripe billing page (enter your purchase email, open the link you receive, choose Cancel Plan). App Store: Apple subscription settings. Google Play: no steps in the help. | At least 24 hours before renewal. Access lasts to the end of the period. No pause. | Monthly plans: non-refundable. Yearly plans: nothing found. Apple or Google purchases: refunded by them. | Usable until the end of the period, then lost. |
| Submagic | Profile, My Account, Go to Stripe Portal, Cancel Subscription. The same article offers a pause of a few months. | Takes effect at the end of the current cycle. A yearly plan renews unless you cancel before the anniversary date. | Fees are non-refundable (help center, terms section 12). The terms add a 14-day withdrawal right for consumers, unless the service was fully performed before then with their prior express consent. | Not found. |
| Opus Clip | Profile photo, Subscription, Manage plan, Cancel subscription at the bottom, Continue to cancel. iPhone purchase: Apple settings. | Takes effect from the next billing cycle. No pause. A paid term cannot be ended early (terms). | Fees already paid are not refunded and no pro-rated refund is given (terms). No dedicated refund policy found. Apple purchases: refunded by Apple. | Remaining credits expire on their original date. Projects stop being accessible after 3 days (help center). |
| CapCut | Where you subscribed (web, PC or mobile subscription page). iOS: Settings, Apple ID, Subscriptions, CapCut, Cancel. Google Play: Subscriptions, CapCut, Cancel. | At least 24 hours before renewal (another help page says at least a day). | The help says purchases are generally not refundable, except double billing. The terms (section 7, updated April 15, 2026) allow a full refund within 14 days if you used no Premium service, and an EU and UK 14-day withdrawal right. The two texts differ. | CapCut Online: subscription credits last to the end of the cycle, then expire; bought credits are not affected. Cloud storage is suspended at the end of the subscription. |
| Descript | App settings (Cmd or Ctrl and comma), pick the Drive, Plan tab, Change plan, Downgrade to Free, pick a reason, Cancel subscription. | The plan stays active to the end of the cycle. You can undo a pending cancellation before then. | Plans are refundable if requested within 48 hours of the invoice date, editor seats within 7 days. Top-ups are not refundable. No pro-rata refund. | Top-up balance is kept but unusable on Free, with its original 12-month expiry. Projects stay accessible. |
| VEED | Profile photo, Workspace Settings, Workspace Billing, Turn off auto-renewal, answer the questionnaire, wait for the confirmation email. The label can vary. iOS: Apple settings. | At least 2 business days before renewal. Premium access lasts to the end of the cycle. | Cancelling stops future charges but does not refund (help). Terms of sale 7.3: a consumer who paid, never used the service and is within 14 days can cancel with a full refund. Credits are not refundable. | Remaining AI credits last to the end of the period, then disappear. |
| Kapwing | In the workspace with the paid plan: Settings, Billing, Cancel Subscription at the bottom, questionnaire, confirm. Direct link: kapwing.com/cancel. | Any time. Paid features last to the end of the cycle. Kapwing sends no payment reminder. | No refund once you are on a paid plan. A technical problem that stays unresolved can lead to an account credit, not a refund. A billing error: write within 30 days. | Not stated. |
Kapwing's refund policy shows a last modification in December 2022. Descript's refund page and Captions' cancellation page carry no date. Submagic's refund help article is dated December 15, 2023; its terms of use were read on November 3, 2026.
What the policies leave open
- Captions: no rule for yearly plans, no mention of an EU withdrawal right in the help we read.
- Submagic: the terms say the withdrawal right does not apply once the service is fully performed with your consent, and do not say what happens if you use the subscription right away. Do not read it as "refund within 14 days".
- Opus Clip: no mention of an EU withdrawal right in the terms extracts we read.
- CapCut: web and PC steps are shown in a screenshot, not in writing.
- VEED: the cancellation article says Workspace Billing, while the FAQ on the pricing page says Team Billing; follow the article and expect the label to vary.
- Kapwing: the policy does not mention the EU right of withdrawal, and says nothing about what happens to projects.
How not to get caught out
- Write down the renewal date the day you subscribe. Kapwing says it sends no payment reminder, and the charge happens on the date, not when you remember it.
- Cancel early enough. At least 24 hours before renewal at CapCut and Captions, at least 2 business days before at VEED. At Descript, do it before the renewal date.
- Cancel where you bought: the website, the App Store or Google Play. CapCut says cancelling in one place does not cover another, and Captions, Opus Clip and VEED send App Store purchases to Apple.
- Do not assume deleting the app cancels. At Captions it does not. At Kapwing, deleting the account does cancel, immediately, and ends any right to a refund.
- Export what you need first. Opus Clip's help says projects stop being accessible after 3 days, and CapCut suspends cloud storage when the subscription ends.
- Keep your account email and receipts. Descript asks you to request a refund from the account email within 48 hours of the invoice date, and CapCut asks for your account details, receipts and a description of the problem when you were charged twice.
- Know that a bank dispute has consequences. Kapwing says a dispute cancels the subscription immediately, loses the time left, and blocks reactivation.
At Rushly AI
These points come from the Rushly AI terms of sale and use (www.rushly-ai.app/en/terms), its public account deletion page (www.rushly-ai.app/en/data-deletion) and the FAQ on the home page.
- How to cancel: from your account, with Cancel my subscription. It is free, you do not need to write to us, and you receive a confirmation with the effective date. The FAQ says the same in short: one click, from your account, whenever you want.
- When it takes effect: at the end of the period already paid. Until then your access and credits stay open. At the end, remaining credits are set to zero and the account goes back to the trial. Videos are erased 30 days after they are created, for every account.
- Renewal: automatic, at the end of each month, or each year on a yearly plan, with no minimum term.
- Refunds: a period already started is not refunded pro rata. The terms make an exception for a payment taken by mistake, such as a double payment or an amount that does not match the order, and for your legal rights. A refund goes back to the payment method within 14 days after we agree.
- Yearly plans: the terms give no separate refund rule for them. The period is a year instead of a month.
- Right of withdrawal: before paying, you tick a box on the payment page that asks for the service to start at once and gives up the 14-day withdrawal right. The terms add that if the law does not allow that waiver in your case, the right stays.
- An offer to stay: when you cancel a monthly plan, you may be offered 30% off the next 3 months, once per customer. You can accept it or cancel anyway.
- A failed video: no credit is taken when an edit fails, and you can run it again; the FAQ says a failed video is credited back.
- Changing plan: from your account, under Card and invoices. The portal shows the amount before you confirm.
- Deleting your account: in the app, Account, Your data, Delete my account. A running subscription is cancelled on the spot, the period already started is not refunded and the remaining credits are lost.
What the terms we read do not say: they do not describe a pause.
Prices, shown on the home page on November 3, 2026: Solo $24, Creator $49, Pro $99, $189 or $349 a month, with 30% off billed annually. The first video is free, with no credit card, and a watermark that paid plans remove. If you are leaving another tool, Rushly AI as an alternative to CapCut, to Submagic, to Captions, to Opus Clip and to Descript, VEED and Kapwing say what each tool does and where it is stronger. For a view of what a person charges, read what a video editor costs.
Rushly AI's limits: browser only for now (a mobile version is planned), no B-roll, music or sound effects, 1080×1920 MP4 only, and it is made for a raw take of one person, not as an editor with a timeline.

Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my CapCut subscription?
On the platform where you subscribed. CapCut's help says Pro and Teams renew automatically, that you should cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, and that cancelling in one place does not cover a subscription bought elsewhere. On iOS: Settings, your Apple ID, Subscriptions, CapCut, Cancel. On Google Play: Subscriptions, CapCut, Cancel. For web and PC, the help gives a screenshot and no written steps.
Does Captions refund a subscription?
Captions' help says monthly plans are non-refundable and that you can cancel at any time to avoid future charges. We found no sentence about yearly plans, so we cannot say they are refundable or not. If you bought through Apple or Google, the refund request goes to Apple or Google, which Captions says it cannot refund itself.
Which of these tools gives a refund window?
Only a few say so in their official texts. Descript refunds plans requested within 48 hours of the invoice date, and editor seats within 7 days. CapCut's terms of service describe a full refund within 14 days if you have not used Premium services in any form. VEED's terms of sale allow a full refund in the first 14 days for a consumer who never used the service. Submagic's terms give a consumer withdrawal right of 14 days, unless the service was fully performed with prior consent. The others say no refund of the period already paid.
What happens to my projects and credits when I cancel?
It differs. Descript keeps projects accessible and stops the paid features. Opus Clip's help says projects are no longer accessible after 3 days, and its remaining credits expire on their original date. Captions' credits stay usable until the end of the period and are lost after. VEED's remaining AI credits last until the end of the period, then disappear. CapCut's terms say cloud storage is suspended when the subscription ends. For Submagic and Kapwing we found nothing on credits.
Does deleting the app cancel the subscription?
Not at Captions: its help says deleting the app or the account does not cancel, and its desktop app, closed on September 30, 2026, kept renewing until cancelled. Kapwing is the reverse: deleting the account or the team workspace cancels the subscription immediately and ends any right to a refund. For the other tools we did not find a statement, so cancel first, then delete.
How do I cancel Rushly AI?
From your account, with the Cancel my subscription button, in one click and with no message to write. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid; until then your access and credits stay open. A period already started is not refunded pro rata, except for payments taken by mistake and your legal rights, according to the Rushly AI terms.
